### Grant Fisher Makes History with Olympic 10K Bronze

For the first time since 2012, an American stood on the 10,000m Olympic podium.

On Friday, Grant Fisher secured the Olympic bronze medal with one of the most determined races of his career, finishing behind winner Joshua Cheptegei and Ethiopia's Berihu Aregawi.

#### A Historic Race

Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei, the world record holder in the event, won gold in an Olympic record time of 26:43.14, while Ethiopia's Berihu Aregawi took silver in 26:43.44. Fisher was in line for a runner-up placement before being overtaken in the final meter, finishing in 26:43.46.

#### Fisher's Gutsy Performance

Despite facing challenges, including getting tripped and turning his ankle, Fisher kept himself in contention throughout the chaotic 25 laps, never falling out of the top five. With just under 150 meters to go, Fisher made a bold move, surging into second place before being out-leaned at the finish line.

#### Fastest 10,000m in Olympic History

In the fastest 10,000m race in Olympic history, Fisher closed the final lap in approximately 55 seconds, avenging his fifth-place finish in Tokyo. His final 1,000 meters was recorded in about 2:27.

#### Upcoming Competition

The American record holder will return to the track in a few days, with the first round of the 5,000m slated for Wednesday, August 7.
