A murder investigation has been launched following the fatal stabbing of a 13-year-old boy in the Birmingham suburb of Oldbury.
West Midlands Police have opened an investigation into the incident, which occurred at an address on Lovett Avenue in the Sandwell market town of Oldbury around 4 p.m. on Thursday. Despite paramedics' efforts to treat the boy at the scene, he sadly did not survive.
A spokeswoman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service stated, “Upon arrival, we found a teenage boy with life-threatening injuries. Ambulance staff administered advanced trauma care on the scene, but unfortunately, despite their best efforts, nothing more could be done, and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
Detective Superintendent Shaun Edwards of the West Midlands Police homicide team remarked, “It’s absolutely tragic that a young life has been lost. We have specialist officers supporting the boy’s family, and our detectives are working tirelessly to find those responsible and bring them into custody as soon as possible.”
A local resident told the Express and Star newspaper, “I didn’t know the family well but we would greet each other as neighbors do. I never knew of any trouble from them; they were an ordinary family in our community, known as good people. I’ve always felt very safe here, so this is all very shocking.”
