Tommy Robinson Receives Second Contempt of Court Notice

English activist Tommy Robinson has been issued a second contempt of court notice for allegedly making false statements about a Syrian refugee.

Robinson, known for his criticism of Islam and activism against grooming gangs, faces potential imprisonment following this new notice from the Attorney General’s Office, as reported by The Telegraph.

He is accused of breaching a High Court injunction on two occasions earlier this year, including during a protest in London’s Trafalgar Square. The injunction barred Robinson from making claims about Syrian teenager Jamal Hijazi, who won £100,000 in damages from Robinson in a 2021 defamation trial.

The latest contempt of court notice was sent to Robinson via his profile on the X social media platform. Both notices are scheduled to be heard by the High Court in October. Robinson had left the country earlier this year prior to his appearance for the initial contempt notice.

Throughout his career as an activist and self-styled citizen journalist, Robinson has faced imprisonment multiple times. His most recent incarceration was at the maximum-security Belmarsh Prison for violating reporting restrictions by filming defendants outside a grooming gang trial. The defendants were ultimately convicted of a "campaign of rape and other sexual abuse" against vulnerable young girls.
