Comedian Eddie Griffin praised former President Donald Trump for clearly outlining his plans for black voters if re-elected, while he criticized the Democratic National Convention (DNC) for failing to earn his support.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Griffin noted the high-profile appearances by figures such as former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama at the DNC. Despite the star power, Griffin remarked that the Democrats still hadn’t earned his vote and questioned their commitment to addressing his concerns.
“Breaking news, y’all. Breaking news,” Griffin said. “The DNC threw a big event last night with all the heavyweights—Michelle, Barack, Bernie—they brought out all the big names. But they still haven’t won me over.”
Eddie Griffin critiqued the speeches delivered by the Obamas during the Democratic National Convention, acknowledging former President Obama's smooth speaking style but expressing skepticism about the substance of their message.
“They still haven’t said what they’re going to do for us,” Griffin said. “All they talk about is how great America is. How is it great when people are broke, homeless, and losing their homes? BlackRock has bought up all the houses, and yet they bring out all these high-profile speakers and expect us to be impressed. They haven’t earned my vote. I’m not easily swayed.”
Griffin continued to challenge the Democrats, questioning, “What are y’all going to do for Black people? You haven’t addressed that part. To his credit, Donald Trump has at least stated what he plans to do.”
In a previous interview in 2015, Griffin had expressed he would vote for anyone other than Trump, even mentioning Kanye West as an alternative
