Gas Prices Have Increased by 50% Since Kamala Harris Assumed Office

"Many Americans are struggling to find the 'joy' that Democrats have been promoting, especially when it comes to filling up their gas tanks. Since Vice President Kamala Harris took office, gas prices have surged by 50 percent.

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, not seasonally adjusted, shows that the cost of gasoline has increased by 50 percent since January 2021."

"This is a harsh reality that Americans are all too familiar with. During the second year of the Biden-Harris administration, gas prices repeatedly hit record highs.

The highest recorded average price for regular unleaded gasoline was $5.016 on June 14, 2022. Diesel prices reached an all-time high just five days later, peaking at $5.816 on June 19, 2022, according to data from AAA.

As of Thursday, the average gas price is $3.361, which remains significantly higher than when former President Donald Trump left office. On January 19, 2021, a AAA press release reported the average price of gasoline was $2.38. Nearly three and a half years later, the average gas price is still almost $1.00 more than when Trump left office. At the peak of the record-breaking highs in 2022, it was $2.62 more."

"It’s important to note that even then, Democrats largely refused to take responsibility for rising prices, attributing them to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and 'COVID-related supply issues' while simultaneously blaming oil and gas companies and market manipulation.

'No. I don’t think the public is blaming Democrats. I think they’re blaming oil companies,' said Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) when asked about the rising gas prices at the time. 'They will blame all of us if we don’t do something about the fossil fuel industry,' she added.

These price hikes coincide with other inflationary issues affecting Americans. Since President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took office in January 2021, car insurance premiums have risen 54 percent. New car prices have jumped 19 percent, used cars and trucks have increased by 20 percent, and the average cost of motor vehicle maintenance and repair has gone up by 30 percent.

Additionally, Vice President Harris has fully supported Green New Deal policies, which include phasing out fossil fuels.

Given these harsh economic realities, it remains unclear where the 'joy' that Democrats promoted at their convention can be found for American consumers."
