Israel Faces General Strike as Histadrut Calls for Action Following Hamas' Murder of Six Hostages
On Monday, Israel is set to experience a general strike as the Histadrut, the national labor union federation, has urged workers to stay home and protest for a hostage deal. This move comes in response to Hamas’s cold-blooded killing of six hostages last week.
The situation has also divided the families of the hostages. Some advocate for a deal with Hamas, even if it means conceding to their demands. Others blame Netanyahu for the hostages' deaths, arguing that his firm stance on maintaining control over the Gaza-Egypt border—crucial for preventing the smuggling of weapons and militants—led to the breakdown of negotiations and the murder of the hostages.
Other hostage families, however, are urging Netanyahu to seek a decisive victory over Hamas. They believe the focus should be on rescuing hostages whenever possible and avoiding any concessions that could allow the terror group to survive and potentially take more hostages in the future.
