The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that they are “aware” of a “counterfeit” political advertisement falsely claiming the team had endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
In a post on X, the Pennsylvania-based football team stated that they are “working with” their advertising partner to remove the advertisements, which depict a drawing of Harris wearing a Philadelphia Eagles uniform and helmet while holding a football.
The bottom of the advertisement features the text, “Kamala. Official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles.”
“We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed,” the team wrote in their post on X.
Christopher Tremoglie, an editor and commentary writer for the Washington Examiner, posted on X that one of the fake political advertisements endorsing Kamala Harris was spotted at 34th and Walnut Streets in Philadelphia, on the University of Pennsylvania's campus.
According to CBS News, other counterfeit political advertisements were seen at the intersections of 16th Street and Spring Garden Street, and 18th Street and JFK Boulevard.
Several people have reportedly suggested that the fake political advertisements were created by graphic artist Winston Tseng, as noted by the outlet.
Another piece on Tseng’s website features the Microsoft logo with the words “Goodbye Inefficient Humans!” and a drawing of a person using a computer inside a red circle with a slash through it. The bottom of the artwork reads, “Powered by OpenAI.
