IDF: Israel Strikes ‘Thousands’ of Hezbollah Launchers; Lebanon Reports One Dead

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they conducted a pre-dawn strike on Sunday, targeting “thousands” of Hezbollah rocket launchers in southern Lebanon. This preemptive attack was aimed at preventing an assault on Tel Aviv. According to Lebanon, the strikes resulted in one fatality.

The IDF detailed that around 100 Israel Air Force fighter jets, guided by intelligence, struck and destroyed numerous rocket launcher barrels embedded in southern Lebanon. Most of these launchers were aimed at northern Israel, with some targeting central Israel. The operation targeted over 40 launch sites across Lebanon.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking from Israel’s military headquarters in Tel Aviv, announced a preemptive strike against Hezbollah to neutralize an imminent threat of rocket attacks on Israel. The decision was made in coordination with the Defense Minister and the IDF Chief-of-Staff. Netanyahu emphasized that the IDF had eliminated thousands of rockets aimed at northern Israel and would continue to take strong defensive and offensive actions to protect the country.

Following the strike, Hezbollah launched hundreds of rockets, causing minimal damage, but more attacks were anticipated. In response to the ongoing threats, Israeli authorities imposed restrictions on large public gatherings in central and northern Israel and advised people to ensure access to bomb shelters.
