Steph Curry Backs Kamala Harris with Video Endorsement at DNC

Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry appeared via video at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Thursday night, offering his endorsement of Kamala Harris's presidential candidacy.

Sporting his Olympic gold medal, Curry became the second Warrior to back Harris this week, following head coach Steve Kerr's endorsement during Monday night's DNC session.

“I believe Kamala as president will bring that unity back and continue to move our country forward,” Curry stated.

Curry highlighted Harris's meetings with Team USA before their gold medal triumph at the 2024 Paris Games during his endorsement.

This isn't Curry's first foray into political support; he previously backed Joe Biden in 2020 and Hillary Clinton in 2016.

In an interview with CBS earlier this year, Curry expressed his interest in leveraging his influence for positive change. “I have an interest in leveraging every part of my influence for good,” he said. “So, if that’s the way to do it, then maybe.”

Curry touched on political ambitions in a 2022 Rolling Stone interview, noting his belief in equality and rights for all citizens as fundamental.

However, Curry faces potential political challenges, particularly concerning his stance on abortion. Raised in a Christian environment, he has not clearly defined his position on the issue and remained silent following the Supreme Court's overturn of Roe v. Wade in 2022.

Given the Democratic Party's increasingly pro-abortion stance, Curry's reluctance to take a definitive position could pose a significant obstacle, especially if he were to pursue a political career in liberal California.
