Trading News: Heritage Foundation Sues DHS for Records on Kamala Harris's Role as 'Border Czar

The Heritage Foundation has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to obtain records related to Vice President Kamala Harris's role as the nation's "border czar." The lawsuit, reviewed exclusively by Breitbart News, requests that a federal court order DHS to release all documents naming Harris as border czar and detailing her involvement in addressing illegal immigration by September 21, ahead of the November presidential election.

According to the lawsuit, President Joe Biden announced on April 14, 2021, that Vice President Harris would be taking on the responsibilities of what the media referred to as the "Border Czar," overseeing and coordinating border security policies and operations. However, there has been significant uncertainty regarding whether Harris was officially designated as the border czar and if the perceived failures of the administration's immigration policies fall under her purview.

The lawsuit highlights the controversy surrounding the Biden-Harris administration’s approach to border security, which has faced criticism for contributing to what is described as a "porous and dangerous" border situation and a broader immigration crisis. The Heritage Foundation argues that the FOIA request was expedited due to the significant media interest and public concerns about the government's integrity.

The primary goal of the lawsuit is to clarify whether Harris is officially referred to as the "border czar" within DHS and the extent of her role in managing illegal immigration. It also seeks to determine which administration official, if not Harris, is responsible for the current border policies.

The Heritage Foundation emphasizes that the American public has a right to know who is accountable for the widely criticized border policy, especially in light of the upcoming 2024 General Election. They argue that failing to release these records before voting begins would cause irreparable harm to public trust and transparency.
