Elsbeth Star Wendell Pierce: 'Pete Hegseth Embodies White Privilege

Hollywood actor Wendell Pierce—celebrated for his roles in *The Wire*,

*Suits*, and *Jack Ryan*—has expressed strong disapproval regarding President-elect Donald Trump’s decision to nominate Fox News host Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense.

The *Elsbeth* star took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share his frustration over the appointment of the decorated military veteran, accusing the incoming president of promoting behavior he called “UNAMERICAN.”

Here’s what Pierce had to say:

As our news reported, President-elect Donald Trump announced Pete Hegseth's nomination on Tuesday, highlighting his career achievements, including his military service and advocacy for veterans.

"Pete is tough, smart, and a true believer in America First," Trump said. "With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice — our military will be great again, and America will never back down. Pete is a graduate of Princeton University with a graduate degree from Harvard."

Trump also noted Hegseth’s extensive service record: "He is an Army combat veteran with tours in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, and Afghanistan. For his actions on the battlefield, he earned two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman’s Badge."

In addition, Trump praised Hegseth’s dedication to improving veterans' care and his criticism of bureaucratic inefficiencies in veterans' services.

Wendell Pierce is not alone in his dismay over Trump’s return to the White House, as many in Hollywood have voiced similar concerns.
