**Homan: Family Detention Under Consideration to Aid DNA Testing, Prevent Child Trafficking**
During Thursday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s *Finnerty*, incoming Border Czar Tom Homan revealed that the Trump administration has not yet decided whether to implement family detention. He noted that one key reason under consideration is the ability to conduct DNA testing to confirm familial relationships and prevent human trafficking.
When host Rob Finnerty asked, “Is family detention really a bad thing if it allows for DNA testing?” Homan responded, “No, it’s not. We haven’t made a final decision, but it’s certainly an option on the table. Why? Because exactly what you mentioned. Under the previous Trump administration, we conducted DNA testing in a pilot program—specifically in El Paso—and discovered that nearly one-third of those claiming to be families weren’t related at all. These children were victims of trafficking.”
He continued by highlighting the alarming number of unaccounted-for minors: “This administration has lost track of over 340,000 children who were smuggled into the U.S. and handed over to unvetted sponsors. Now they can’t locate them. We know for a fact that some ‘families’ are fraudulent. Family residential centers are not jails—they are designed for families. By using family detention, we can perform DNA testing and deeper investigations to ensure children aren’t being exploited.”
Homan’s remarks underscore the broader debate over immigration policies, family detention, and safeguarding vulnerable minors from human trafficking networks.
