White House Shares Heartbreaking Update on Honorary Secret Service Agent DJ Daniel
The White House has shared a somber update about 13-year-old DJ Daniel, who was named an honorary Secret Service agent during President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress in March. DJ is now “facing three new tumors,” according to an official statement.
In a post on X, the White House praised DJ—whose full name is Devarjaye Daniel—as “one of the strongest, bravest young men” and called him a “true legend.”
“We’re lifting up Agent DJ Daniel in prayer after his dad, Theodis, shared that DJ is now facing three new tumors,” the statement read. “DJ is one of the strongest, bravest young men—and has now been sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country.”
Speaking with Fox 7 News, DJ’s father, Theodis Daniel, opened up about the emotional toll of his son’s battle with cancer. “It’s rough. There isn’t a class that can teach you how to deal with it,” he said. “You’re hearing that your child has a nasty disease… we’re winging it day by day.”
DJ has become a symbol of courage and hope across the nation. He has been sworn in as an honorary officer by law enforcement agencies from coast to coast. Most recently, he joined the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in Texas—his 1,351st swearing-in ceremony.
