Fans of South Park shouldn’t expect any jokes aimed at former President Donald Trump in the near future. Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker revealed that they have run out of things to say about Trump and shared that the show won’t return until after the November election.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, when asked if the hiatus was planned to avoid the complications of satirizing Trump, Stone admitted, “Honestly, it’s on purpose.”
The two discussed their careers and reflected on South Park’s previous treatment of Trump. “We’ve navigated through four or five presidential elections, and it’s always a mental struggle,” Stone explained. “It’s obviously important, but it starts to dominate everything, and we end up having less fun.”
Parker chimed in, saying, “I don’t know what more we could possibly say about Trump.”
They also confirmed that South Park won’t be back until 2025, skipping the entire November election. Part of the delay, Parker explained, was due to “waiting for Paramount to figure all their shit out,” referencing the studio’s complicated takeover process.
