According to The Wrap, Rabbi Joel Nickerson led the memorial on Sunday night, with Scooter Braun and Noa Tishby as guest speakers. Notable attendees included Cindy Crawford, Eve Barlow, WME agent Brad Slater, and "Stranger Things" star Brett Gelman.
Israeli health ministry spokesperson Shira Solomon told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that the six hostages were killed by Hamas terrorists with multiple close-range gunshots. IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed that, based on initial assessments, the hostages were brutally murdered shortly before Israeli forces reached their location.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to President Joe Biden's criticism on Monday, stating that pressuring Israel in the wake of Hamas’s murders will only encourage Hamas to kill more hostages.
As reported by News, Netanyahu gave his remarks at a press briefing, largely speaking in Hebrew. He emphasized that Israel is engaged in an existential battle against a brutal enemy. The prime minister also reiterated his apologies to the families of the six murdered hostages, including American-Israeli Hersh Goldberg-Polin, acknowledging that while Israeli forces were close to rescuing them, they ultimately did not succeed.
