Trump on Two Assassination Attempts: “There’s a Lot of Rhetoric Out There

In the wake of a second assassination attempt on his life, former President Donald Trump discussed the situation during a live X Space, commenting on the "lot of rhetoric going on."

In an interview on Monday evening, Trump was asked about the two recent attempts on his life. The most recent incident occurred on Sunday when Ryan Wesley Routh was found hiding in bushes near Trump International Golf Course. Law enforcement discovered an AK-style rifle, a Go-Pro camera, and two backpacks in the bushes.

This attempt follows another incident on July 13, when Trump was shot in the upper part of his right ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired from a rooftop nearby.

When asked about the significance of these attempts, Trump responded, "Well, there’s a lot of rhetoric going on. A lot of people think that when the Democrats talk about a threat to democracy and all this, it seems that both of these attackers were radical left. The first one, they should learn more about. There are apps that haven't been opened yet, which is pretty strange. And the father of the shooter in Butler went out and hired the biggest lawyer in Pennsylvania, which is also quite unusual."

Trump criticized the increase in rhetoric following these events. As previously reported by Breitbart News, rather than reducing rhetoric, Democrats and the media have intensified their commentary.

In a Fox News interview, Trump attributed the second assassination attempt to the rhetoric of the Biden-Harris administration. “He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it,” Trump said. “Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at when I’m the one who’s going to save the country, and they are the ones destroying it—from the inside and out.”
