A Florida woman has been arrested for allegedly threatening BlueCross BlueShield with a copycat crime in the wake of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson's murder.
A Florida woman has been arrested after allegedly threatening a copycat crime against BlueShield Insurance. During a phone call with the company, she reportedly said, “Delay, deny, depose. You people are next.”
The phrase “Delay, Deny, Depose” was notably written on bullet casings used in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The casings were linked to Luigi Mangione, who is facing charges in Thompson's killing. According to police, the woman, identified as Boston, invoked this phrase to intimidate the company. When authorities arrived to question her, she allegedly told them that healthcare companies deserved "karma" for their actions. She also claimed she did not own firearms or intend harm, but authorities were skeptical.
Police emphasized that Boston's statement seemed deliberately designed to echo the words scrawled on bullets by Mangione, who allegedly wrote “Deny,” “Defend,” and “Depose” on ammunition found at the crime scene. Mangione, who is charged with Thompson’s murder, reportedly used a ghost gun to carry out the killing.
Boston’s bail was set at $100,000, and Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor warned that such threats cannot be made lightly. “She’s been in this world long enough that she certainly should know better than to issue such threats,” Taylor said.
Despite some left-wing sympathizers expressing support for Mangione's alleged actions, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro condemned the violence. “In America, we do not kill people in cold blood to resolve policy differences or express a viewpoint,” he said. “Vigilante justice makes us all less safe.”
