Trump Confirms Eagles’ White House Invitation Following Super Bowl Victory
After online speculation and controversy, President Donald Trump has confirmed that the Philadelphia Eagles will be invited to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win.
“They will be. We haven’t yet, but we will be [sending an invite],” Trump stated. “I thought it was a great performance by them. Absolutely, they’ll be extended that invitation. … We’re going to do that sometime today. They deserve to be down here, and we hope to see them.”
This marks a significant shift from 2018, when the Eagles declined an invitation to the White House after winning the Super Bowl, citing Trump’s criticism of NFL players who kneeled during the national anthem. At the time, Trump responded with a statement saying, “The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team… They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our country.”
Now, with the anthem protests behind them and Trump securing both the national popular vote and Pennsylvania—a key Eagles stronghold—the atmosphere has changed. The team has accepted the invitation, signaling a new dynamic between the franchise and the White House.
Whether Trump will serve them McDonald’s, as he famously did for past championship teams, remains to be seen.
