During Saturday’s broadcast of FNC’s *Life, Liberty & Levin*, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised former President Donald Trump’s proposal for Gaza’s reconstruction, calling it “the first fresh idea in years.”
“I think that President Trump’s proposal is the first fresh idea in years, and it has the potential to change everything in Gaza,” Netanyahu said. “Otherwise, we just keep repeating the same cycle. We leave, Hamas regroups, and they use Gaza as a base to attack Israel again. But Trump steps in and says, ‘Let’s try something new.’ I’ve seen him do this before—he cuts through the noise, says something that initially shocks people, but then they realize, ‘He’s got a point.’ And many times, he turns out to be right.”
Netanyahu elaborated on the situation in Gaza, describing it as a “springboard for continuous terrorist attacks” against Israel. “We respond, they rebuild, and the cycle continues,” he said. “This time, we’re going to finish Hamas off. But what happens next? Do we leave the people there in devastation? Everyone calls Gaza the world’s largest open-air prison—because no one lets them leave. They’re trapped in worsening conditions, repeatedly overtaken by terrorists.”
He then highlighted Trump’s proposal: “President Trump comes in and says, ‘Open the gate. Let them leave. I’ll find a place for temporary relocation and clean up the devastation.’ This isn’t about forced eviction or ethnic cleansing. It’s about giving people a choice—freeing them from what so many call a prison. So why are they being forced to stay?”
